Do You Know How To Clean Makeup Brushes?

Learn how to clean makeup brushes properly.

Now you have found your perfect set of makeup brushes, it’s important to take care of them. Washing your brushes once every two weeks keeps them oil and germ free and ready for contact with your skin.

Here are the step by step instructions for getting your brushes clean.

If you use your makeup brush sets regularly you should be keeping them clean in by washing them every other week with either baby shampoo or a cleansing solution made especially for makeup brushes.

What You Need

  • The Brushes
  • Shampoo
  • Two Clean Towels

Step 1

Wet your brush thoroughly by running cold water over it.

Step 2

Add a drop or two of shampoo to the bristles and gently massage it in for a minute or two.

Step 3

Rinse the brushes completely until all traces of color and soap are gone and the water runs clear.

Step 4

Wrap your brushes in a towel and squeeze the excess water out.

Step 5

Lay the brushes flat on a dry towel to dry for about 12 hours.
Never use a blow dryer to get your brushes dry or use them when they’re wet.

The Must Have Make Up Brushes.

Wouldn't it be great if we could all have our make-up done by a professional every day? However, having a make up artist beautifying you on a daily basis doesn’t come cheap so most of us ladies will just have to settle for the next best thing, and that’s watching tutorials and figuring out to how to do it by ourselves! And the truth is that you really can do your make-up like a professional artist, you just need some practice and, of course, a few good make-up tools. So here’s the list of the most essential ones any girl wanting her make-up done perfectly should have. This is one of the basic tools you just can’t afford not to have.

SOFT EYE SHADOW BRUSH

Now, many of my friends prefer to use those spongy applicators instead but the effect is not nearly the same. Although the brush seems less precise and harder to get used to, if you want that even, silky effect, this is the tool for you. Using your fingers is a no-no unless you are a six-year-old, and a sponge applicator is only good for creating a smudgy effect, so do invest in this brush. You will like it!

EYE SHADOW BLENDER BRUSH

Nope, it’s not going to help you make a banana milk shake, but you’ll get a set of gorgeous smoky eyes. I believe that’s a good bargain and, once you use this baby, you will think so too. There are many different sizes of blender brushes so assess out your needs before making the final choice. If you, for example, have small eyes or a deep crease line you’ll need a smaller brush to really get those colours mixed with precision.

BROW AND LASH BRUSH

Big brows are in again and big eyelashes have never gone out of fashion so this multifunctional tool is something every girl should have. In order to get that flawless look we all admire, professional make-up artists have to pay attention to all the little details. And that includes brows and eyelashes too – you’ve got to keep them groomed.

LIPSTICK/CONCEALER BRUSH

Perfect lips and no dark circles with the help of just one little brush! Ideally, you would need two, but if you are new to this whole make-up world one will do just fine. Make-up pros use this tool to make those flawless, sexy lips and eyes that look like you had 24 hours of beauty sleep.

FOUNDATION BRUSHES

Foundation brushes work well with all types of foundation by creating a more flawless finish by allowing the makeup to cover each area of the face equally.
Regularly cleaning makeup brushes extends their life. Some makeup lines sell liquid brush cleaning solutions, but baby shampoo and water also work well. Antibacterial wipes provide a quick way to clean brush heads in the car or wherever water would make a mess. After cleaning your brushes, reshape the brush heads with your fingers and leave to dry.

So, are you ready to start investing in some professional equipment? Or maybe you have already done so? Let me know which make-up tools you like to use in your daily make-up routine and do share some make-up tips too!
