False Eyelashes

Thankfully, modern civilization invented false eyelashes, which come in various styles, colours, and sizes. If you learn how to put them on correctly, no one will ever guess that they're not yours. If you are like me and are not blessed in the eyelash department but want your eye fuller and more inviting, we're in luck! False lash helps to exaggerate the eyes but at the same time it's important to keep them looking natural. You don’t want to look like there are spiders crawling out of your eyes.  Here's a quick and easy guide to making false lashes work for you But if you want your false eye lashes for the long-term

I would recommend eye lashes extensions they usually last for about two months all you need to do is walk into a beauty salon and have one of the professional technicians apply single strands of synthetic lashes to give you a natural, long-lashed look. But the procedure  takes about two to three hours and can cost anywhere from £60 to £1,000 the Eyelash extensions can be great because you can wake up in the morning and not have to apply mascara or false lashes yourself. But is it worth it?  In addition to the high price tag and having to have the extensions reapplied every 5-7 weeks, there is another risk: if not applied properly, extensions can cause you to lose your natural lashes. So you might be better off getting the temporary eye lash strips these types of lashes are glued on the strip and then pressed along the lid at your eyelash line and are affordable, some cost as little as £2.

My experience with the adhesive strip eyelashes is that I still need to add glue to the lashes even though they say you don't need it. They seem to fall off too easily on their own. You'll find eyelash glue in the kit with the eyelashes or you can buy it separately. I find the dark glue is better than the clear glue. The eye lash strips are perfect if you just want them for a night out to the club or dinner with friends because they are temporary and can be taken off easily.

Here’s a quick and easy guide to making false lashes work for you

  • Apply your make-up
  • Hold your lashes up to your eye to fit your natural lashes and if necessary trim away where needed with a pair of clean scissors.Bend the band of lashes to fit your own eye shape
  • Apply the lash glue to the back of your tweezers or another instrument which gives you control of the glue amount.
  • Apply a layer of glue to the entire length of the lash band and wait for 20seconds. Wave it around and let the glue dry a bit. You don't want the glue to be wet but rather tack
  • Use the tweezers to grab the lash themselves and apply as close to your own lashes as possible. Looking downward into a magnifying mirror, Make sure the lash band ends are securely placed.Repeat to the other eye
  • If you are using a dark set of lashes, you may want to use some liquid eye liner to the band to cover any missed spots and a quick coat of mascara to both your natural lashes and the false one to blend the colour.Removing fake eyelashes is really not that hard. The main thing is that if you want to re-wear the lashes you have to pull them off gently from the outer edge and pull toward the inner edge. Then take the glue off very gently if you can by holding the lashes with your one hand and picking the glue off. Store your fake lashes on the plastic kit.

How to care for your braids

Braids can be a great style to protect your natural hair. Braids can be worn in a variety of styles, although your own hair is not exposed, it still needs to be cared for while wearing extensions. Every black woman is aware that braids should never be done so tightly that they cause headaches, and even worse traction alopecia I would also recommend that you give yourself a deep conditioning treatment before getting your hair braided for added protection.  Braid styles should also be covered with satin or silk scarves at night.
When wearing braids you should still have a hair care regimen just like the one you have for your natural hair, your hair and scalp still need to be kept clean and well moisturised. Braid styles should be washed, especially if worn for long periods of time.
The method you use to take off your braids is also important. Set time to take off your styles. You don’t want to cause damage i.e. breakage because you are rushing to get the braids out. Depending on how many braids you have or the size of the braids, you may even have to set aside a couple of hours over a few days to take your braids down. It takes me at least 6 hours to take mine off, after you unbraid each braid, use your fingers to de-tangle the hair before wetting or combing to avoid tangles and knots.
Warning: Never wash your hair before it is fully detangled after taking down your braids, unless you want a tangled massive mess.
After de-tangling with your hands first, you can use conditioner and water again to detangle further with a wide-tooth comb before washing. I would again recommend that you give yourself a deep conditioner after washing.
