Check out these grooming tips to help you get and maintain the perfect brow shape.

Every time I get my eyebrows threaded, I walk away feeling like a new woman. I feel like my face looks more symmetric and it’s like an instant face lift.

One of the first things people notice about our face is our eyes and our eyebrows are the frame for our pretty face, so you don’t want them looking unkempt. Check out these grooming tips to help you get and maintain the perfect brow shape.First visit someone who specializes in eyebrows for the initial shaping of your brows. Some women can just look at their eyebrows and figure out the perfect shape but some of us have no clue where to start. The best bet is to see an expert now, so you won’t end up crying later. Plucking isn't the only method of shaping up your brows. You could have them waxed, threaded or use laser hair removal on them. Do you research and consult with an expert to decide what works best for you.Once you have a gorgeous shape to your brows, maintenance is key. And the best part is it’s easy! Just invest in a pair of tweezers and pluck away stray hairs that are growing outside of the shape you desire.

To avoid creating uneven lines and bald spots, focus on the hair in the middle of the brows and on the brow bone.If you have thinner brows, invest in an eyebrow pencil or powder to fill in those areas. When using a pencil, be sure to use small upward strokes to create the look of strands of hair. It’s not becoming to have straight lines drawn on your face where hair should be.

Do You Know How To Clean Makeup Brushes?

Learn how to clean makeup brushes properly.

Now you have found your perfect set of makeup brushes, it’s important to take care of them. Washing your brushes once every two weeks keeps them oil and germ free and ready for contact with your skin.

Here are the step by step instructions for getting your brushes clean.

If you use your makeup brush sets regularly you should be keeping them clean in by washing them every other week with either baby shampoo or a cleansing solution made especially for makeup brushes.

What You Need

  • The Brushes
  • Shampoo
  • Two Clean Towels

Step 1

Wet your brush thoroughly by running cold water over it.

Step 2

Add a drop or two of shampoo to the bristles and gently massage it in for a minute or two.

Step 3

Rinse the brushes completely until all traces of color and soap are gone and the water runs clear.

Step 4

Wrap your brushes in a towel and squeeze the excess water out.

Step 5

Lay the brushes flat on a dry towel to dry for about 12 hours.
Never use a blow dryer to get your brushes dry or use them when they’re wet.

The Must Have Make Up Brushes.

Wouldn't it be great if we could all have our make-up done by a professional every day? However, having a make up artist beautifying you on a daily basis doesn’t come cheap so most of us ladies will just have to settle for the next best thing, and that’s watching tutorials and figuring out to how to do it by ourselves! And the truth is that you really can do your make-up like a professional artist, you just need some practice and, of course, a few good make-up tools. So here’s the list of the most essential ones any girl wanting her make-up done perfectly should have. This is one of the basic tools you just can’t afford not to have.

SOFT EYE SHADOW BRUSH

Now, many of my friends prefer to use those spongy applicators instead but the effect is not nearly the same. Although the brush seems less precise and harder to get used to, if you want that even, silky effect, this is the tool for you. Using your fingers is a no-no unless you are a six-year-old, and a sponge applicator is only good for creating a smudgy effect, so do invest in this brush. You will like it!

EYE SHADOW BLENDER BRUSH

Nope, it’s not going to help you make a banana milk shake, but you’ll get a set of gorgeous smoky eyes. I believe that’s a good bargain and, once you use this baby, you will think so too. There are many different sizes of blender brushes so assess out your needs before making the final choice. If you, for example, have small eyes or a deep crease line you’ll need a smaller brush to really get those colours mixed with precision.

BROW AND LASH BRUSH

Big brows are in again and big eyelashes have never gone out of fashion so this multifunctional tool is something every girl should have. In order to get that flawless look we all admire, professional make-up artists have to pay attention to all the little details. And that includes brows and eyelashes too – you’ve got to keep them groomed.

LIPSTICK/CONCEALER BRUSH

Perfect lips and no dark circles with the help of just one little brush! Ideally, you would need two, but if you are new to this whole make-up world one will do just fine. Make-up pros use this tool to make those flawless, sexy lips and eyes that look like you had 24 hours of beauty sleep.

FOUNDATION BRUSHES

Foundation brushes work well with all types of foundation by creating a more flawless finish by allowing the makeup to cover each area of the face equally.
Regularly cleaning makeup brushes extends their life. Some makeup lines sell liquid brush cleaning solutions, but baby shampoo and water also work well. Antibacterial wipes provide a quick way to clean brush heads in the car or wherever water would make a mess. After cleaning your brushes, reshape the brush heads with your fingers and leave to dry.

So, are you ready to start investing in some professional equipment? Or maybe you have already done so? Let me know which make-up tools you like to use in your daily make-up routine and do share some make-up tips too!

WEAVES

Weaves get a bad reputation for the damage they can cause to our natural hair. But if you take care of your natural hair underneath, weaves can be a great way to change your look or give your natural hair a break from styling.
Follow these simple steps and you’ll minimize damage and optimize growth:

  • If you can’t afford it, don’t wear it. Synthetic hair might be cheap but it can make your natural hair brittle and even irritate your scalp. It’s so easy to damage your hair when you abuse the weave, we are doing serious damage to our hair and scalp with constant weave wearing without breaks in-between. This is the cause of hair loss from the natural hairline. I would recommend Brazilian Remy hair that will last you up to 4 applications (That’s 12 months so worth the money. Binasbraids.co.uk can supply you with Brazilian virgin Remy hair that’s completely unaltered and great quality will give you that glamorous look like your favourite celebrity.
  • You must Condition! Condition! Condition! It’s very important that you deep condition your hair before attaching a weave. Use a product like Organic Root Stimulator Olive Oil Replenishing Pak to damp hair then sit under a hooded dryer wearing a plastic cap for 20 minutes. No hooded dryer? No problem. Leave the conditioner in for 45 minutes to 1 hour with just the plastic cap. Then rinse.
  • If it hurts, get out of there! Tracks should be sewn in firmly but comfortably. You should not leave the hair dressers in pain. I've witnessed too many women leaving the hair dressers with a headache because their tracks were sewn on too tight. Not only is it painful, but it also puts you at risk of traction alopecia (see picture below). Keep a weaving thread and needle handy at home for any tracks that come loose. It’s not worth losing your hair.
  • Don’t use a product that is too oily or hair-sprays that will weigh down your weave and cause build up which can lead to odours! If you invest in a quality weave, you won’t need to apply product between washes. Each weave has different needs. A curly weave might require a leave-in conditioner to reduce frizz, while a straight one might call for a lightweight moisturiser or nothing at all. It varies, so do your research.
  • Always get colour that blends with your natural colour. There’s nothing worse than a weave with different textures.
  • Don’t use too much heat.  Stay clear of curling and flat irons. Braiding your weave at night can create beautiful curls and waves in the morning.
  • Oil your edges and scalp. Olive Oil or any other oil you use can condition hair and stimulate growth. We've all seen the photos of Naomi around the web. Ladies, this doesn't have to be your fate! Massage oil to your edges to prevent breakage.
  • Make sure your tracks are not visible. You might as well leave the house with a pack of weave in your hand
  • Always have your tracks sewn on securely. Over time, tracks will loosen as you style your weave. But there’s no reason for them to be hanging on for dear life by a single strand of weaving thread after one week of wear.
  • Never wear a weave beyond its expiration date. It’s recommended that you keep your extensions in for 6 to 8 weeks. Any longer than that can lead to tangling (of your actual natural hair) and result in hair loss - and you could end up looking like (the picture below):

Finally, ladies, never become attached to your weave. I am not talking about having a styling preference. I am talking about feeling that you need a weave to be attractive. At the end of the day, beauty comes from the inside. Your weave should be an accessory not a mask for your insecurity.

Have a nice day! God Bless

False Eyelashes

Thankfully, modern civilization invented false eyelashes, which come in various styles, colours, and sizes. If you learn how to put them on correctly, no one will ever guess that they're not yours. If you are like me and are not blessed in the eyelash department but want your eye fuller and more inviting, we're in luck! False lash helps to exaggerate the eyes but at the same time it's important to keep them looking natural. You don’t want to look like there are spiders crawling out of your eyes.  Here's a quick and easy guide to making false lashes work for you But if you want your false eye lashes for the long-term

I would recommend eye lashes extensions they usually last for about two months all you need to do is walk into a beauty salon and have one of the professional technicians apply single strands of synthetic lashes to give you a natural, long-lashed look. But the procedure  takes about two to three hours and can cost anywhere from £60 to £1,000 the Eyelash extensions can be great because you can wake up in the morning and not have to apply mascara or false lashes yourself. But is it worth it?  In addition to the high price tag and having to have the extensions reapplied every 5-7 weeks, there is another risk: if not applied properly, extensions can cause you to lose your natural lashes. So you might be better off getting the temporary eye lash strips these types of lashes are glued on the strip and then pressed along the lid at your eyelash line and are affordable, some cost as little as £2.

My experience with the adhesive strip eyelashes is that I still need to add glue to the lashes even though they say you don't need it. They seem to fall off too easily on their own. You'll find eyelash glue in the kit with the eyelashes or you can buy it separately. I find the dark glue is better than the clear glue. The eye lash strips are perfect if you just want them for a night out to the club or dinner with friends because they are temporary and can be taken off easily.

Here’s a quick and easy guide to making false lashes work for you

  • Apply your make-up
  • Hold your lashes up to your eye to fit your natural lashes and if necessary trim away where needed with a pair of clean scissors.Bend the band of lashes to fit your own eye shape
  • Apply the lash glue to the back of your tweezers or another instrument which gives you control of the glue amount.
  • Apply a layer of glue to the entire length of the lash band and wait for 20seconds. Wave it around and let the glue dry a bit. You don't want the glue to be wet but rather tack
  • Use the tweezers to grab the lash themselves and apply as close to your own lashes as possible. Looking downward into a magnifying mirror, Make sure the lash band ends are securely placed.Repeat to the other eye
  • If you are using a dark set of lashes, you may want to use some liquid eye liner to the band to cover any missed spots and a quick coat of mascara to both your natural lashes and the false one to blend the colour.Removing fake eyelashes is really not that hard. The main thing is that if you want to re-wear the lashes you have to pull them off gently from the outer edge and pull toward the inner edge. Then take the glue off very gently if you can by holding the lashes with your one hand and picking the glue off. Store your fake lashes on the plastic kit.

How to care for your braids

Braids can be a great style to protect your natural hair. Braids can be worn in a variety of styles, although your own hair is not exposed, it still needs to be cared for while wearing extensions. Every black woman is aware that braids should never be done so tightly that they cause headaches, and even worse traction alopecia I would also recommend that you give yourself a deep conditioning treatment before getting your hair braided for added protection.  Braid styles should also be covered with satin or silk scarves at night.
When wearing braids you should still have a hair care regimen just like the one you have for your natural hair, your hair and scalp still need to be kept clean and well moisturised. Braid styles should be washed, especially if worn for long periods of time.
The method you use to take off your braids is also important. Set time to take off your styles. You don’t want to cause damage i.e. breakage because you are rushing to get the braids out. Depending on how many braids you have or the size of the braids, you may even have to set aside a couple of hours over a few days to take your braids down. It takes me at least 6 hours to take mine off, after you unbraid each braid, use your fingers to de-tangle the hair before wetting or combing to avoid tangles and knots.
Warning: Never wash your hair before it is fully detangled after taking down your braids, unless you want a tangled massive mess.
After de-tangling with your hands first, you can use conditioner and water again to detangle further with a wide-tooth comb before washing. I would again recommend that you give yourself a deep conditioner after washing.
